Encouraging Healing Through Integrative Care and Community
CIOFM Support Groups provide compassionate, integrative care for individuals affected by cancer—parents, thrivers, caregivers, and loved ones.
Combining functional medicine principles and collaborative support, we help members navigate their healing journey.
We talk about things that matter: fear, sleep, stress, gratitude, purpose, and how to stay grounded when life feels uncertain.
Each session brings together insights from integrative and functional medicine with real-life tools and honest conversation.
How Integrative & Functional Medicine Support Healing
Integrative medicine brings together conventional medical care with evidence-informed complementary therapies to support healing on every level—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
Functional medicine is one part of this integrative model. It focuses on identifying root contributors to imbalance, such as inflammation, immune dysfunction, metabolic stress, and environmental exposures, and addressing them through targeted nutrition, lifestyle support, and therapeutic interventions.
In cancer care, this combined approach works alongside your treatments to support immune health, reduce side effects, improve quality of life, and strengthen the body’s internal terrain for healing.
Our Goals as a Support Group
• Aim at providing a safe, welcoming space for sharing our experiences and emotions.
• Facilitate education material and relevant information about integrative care, which includes relaxation techniques, positive behavior habits, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Encourage empowerment and self-advocacy in health decisions.
• Offer practical tips for navigating conventional treatments alongside complementary therapies.
What to Expect at Meetings
CIOFM Support Group meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm and are led by Maggie Riffler, our Health and Wellness Coach, who brings compassion, expertise, and a calming presence to every session.
Each gathering includes space for peer sharing, where members can open up about their stories, challenges, and victories in a supportive environment.
Maggie also guides us through simple mind-body practices to help reduce stress and support healing from the inside out.
We often share resources, from helpful articles and book recommendations to trusted tools you can explore at home between sessions.
